The stairs

You may never know
How good it was to see you today
On the day of my birthday

You may never know
How it felt to see your eyes
For a second, at that moment in time

You may never know
How much I shook and for how long my heart raced
And the look I had after I saw your face

You may never know
How I wanted to go back outside
And for another minute see your sweet, sweet eyes.

You may never know
How much that second seemed like a million years
And that it brought me a big smile, one that I couldn't hide to my peers

You may never know
That that single moment was the best present I could ask for
Nothing, nothing more...

You may never know...
